The Finale...

Sorry to leave everyone hanging... partially it was to keep it a surprise until we could have everyone over... but our crazy summer schedule isn't allowing for that. So, here it is. The new kitchen. We love it and we love cooking in it. Jerry even said recently there's absolutely nothing he would change.

The sink is deep and has one narrow side and one wide side. I can submerge a cookie sheet in the wide side if I need to. It's great.

The stove has a microwave drawer and true convection oven. We love it and we didn't have to pay 'Viking' prices for it, either.

The dish cabinet: This was a custom request that the cabinet come all the way down to the granite. Not only does it LOOK great... but I had some large dishes that I couldn't get in a regular cupboard. They fit in this one and there is room for ALL my dishes in this cabinet which is great because I have a lot of dishes.

Ahh... the Island. This was a labor of love for all of us. We all contributed elements to the design and our contractor's brother built it -- in our garage so we could see it coming together. Then our contractor painted/finished it. Granite on either side and a Boos cutting board in the middle. The cutting board pulls out revealing a well underneath with 3-4 metal prep bowls. Always one at the ready. The front of the island has two small drawers on either side -- knives to the right and spatulas and measuring utensils to the left. The large pull out in the middle holds the trash and recycle bins. Baskets work for bread, crackers, etc. We couldn't live without this now!

The dining area... part of the big room. This is our table fully-extended, which can seat 10 if necessary. In the past we had to ask one person in the corner seat to be willing to get up any time someone wanted to go to the bathroom (from one side) or to the kitchen (from the other)! It was a giant pain. This is much better.
